FOCUS ON THE WHOLE CHILD AND THE WHOLE FAMILY

Success After 6 provides wrap-around services to help break down barriers many of the students and their families face on a daily basis. Our United Way works in partnership with the school to help the students achieve success. We help the students realize their potential and encourage them to excel in the classroom. We bring community partners to the table to best serve the children and their families.

Together we help our children say I CAN!

SUCCESS AFTER 6 BACKGROUND:

Our United Way launched this initiative after holding community conversations throughout the Mahoning Valley. We repeatedly heard that we need a safe haven for our children and more resources available to the families.

Our pilot program started at the Youngstown Community School for the 2015/2016 school year. We expanded Success After 6 to Taft Elementary School in the Youngstown City School District for the 2016/2017 school year.

SUCCESS AFTER 6 THIS YEAR:

For the 2023/2024 school year, we will be in 8 districts –  Youngstown Community School, Valley Christian Elementary School, Austintown Elementary School, Boardman Center Intermediate School, Youngstown Taft Elementary, Girard Prospect Elementary, Sebring Elementary, and Struthers Elementary School. We also continue to support family engagement programming at Liberty’s Blott Guy PK-6 School.

Success After 6 will serve thousands of students and their families at each school through various enrichment programs, tutoring, health screenings, food pantries, clothing drives, and our main piece – an after-school program with our Education Partners and Enrichment Partners: Gymster, YBI -Entrepreneurship program, Music Program, and Dance Program – 2nd and 7th Foundation, STEM is Us, YSU Tennis, Phantoms Hockey, and Target Outfitters.
