FOCUS ON THE WHOLE CHILD AND THE WHOLE FAMILY

Success After 6 provides wrap-around services to help break down barriers many of the students and their families face on a daily basis. Our United Way works in partnership with the school to help the students achieve success. We help the students realize their potential and encourage them to excel in the classroom. We bring community partners to the table to best serve the children and their families.

SUCCESS AFTER 6 BACKGROUND:

Our United Way launched this initiative after holding community conversations throughout the Mahoning Valley. We repeatedly heard that we need a safe haven for our children and more resources available to the families.

We are currently in 9 districts:

  • Austintown Elementary School
  • B.L. Miller Elementary School, Sebring
  • Boardman Center Intermediate School
  • E.J. Blott Elementary School, Liberty
  • Lowellville Schools
  • Prospect Elementary School, Girard
  • Struthers Elementary School
  • Taft Elementary School, Youngstown
  • Youngstown Community School

Success After 6 will serve thousands of students and their families at each school through various enrichment programs, mentorship, vision screenings, Care Closets, and After-School programming.

SUCCESS AFTER 6 PROGRAMS:

  • After-School
    • We are committed to improving our students’ experiences while emphasizing literacy, math, and social-emotional development.
  • Care Closets
    • Provide students with immediate access to food, clothing, hygiene products, school supplies, and more.
  • Report Card Mentoring
    • We provide academic mentorship and goal setting to 5th-8th grade students.
  • Next Gen Leadership
    • We provide one-on-one and small group mentoring to students 5th-8th grade.
  • Vision Screening
    • We partner with Sight For All United and Vision to Learn to provide high-quality vision care to students throughout the Mahoning Valley.
