Welcome to our Trauma-Informed Care Training Registration Site! As we prepare for the 2024-2025 school year, we want to make sure that each individual representing United Way in our partner schools feels prepared and confident when spending time with the students in the Success After 6, Young Adult Mentorship, and Gloria Jones Report Card Mentorship programs.
What is Trauma-Informed Care (TIC)? The Ohio Department of Education explains that trauma-informed individuals and schools can create “policies, practices and cultures that are sensitive to the needs of traumatized individuals and ensure that all individuals (students, families and staff) meet their maximum potential”. Many students we serve are identified as at-risk, so this training is extremely important for us all.
Students’ needs are ever-changing, and United Way prioritizes communication with school administrations and guidance counselors so that we can better serve the students in our programs. Our partner schools and the Mahoning County Mental Health and Recovery Board support this training. We believe that everyone involved will benefit greatly.
Please Note:
- Sessions are capped due to limited space so please register ASAP.
- Sessions 1 & 2 will differ slightly from sessions 3 & 4, but please register for the date and time that works best for your schedule.
- Young adult mentorship providers & volunteers should plan to register for either session 1 or 2.
- SA6 employees & Gloria Jones Report Card Mentorship volunteers [or district teachers] should register for either session 3 or 4.
