PREFERRED TUTOR DATABASE

Our Work

Welcome to United Way of Youngstown and the Mahoning Valley’s Preferred Tutor Database

The main goal of this database is to connect licensed educators with families seeking academic assistance for their child over the summer. We understand the importance of finding the right tutor, whether you’ve been advised by a teacher or administration to close an educational gap before moving into the next school year or if you simply want your child to have academic structure throughout the summer months.

You can access the Preferred Tutor Database by clicking here.

United Way of Youngstown and the Mahoning Valley partners with 19 Mahoning County school districts to provide summer programming, kindergarten readiness camps, mentorship programs, and after school programs. If you have any questions about how to find the right tutor or would like to learn more about our education programs, please call the office (330) 746-8494 and ask for Kielly or Sarah.

Disclaimer: United Way of Youngstown and the Mahoning Valley [UWYMV] is not responsible for any tutoring activities or curriculum planning. UWYMV does not financially benefit from this tutoring program in any way. The purpose of the database is to refer and connect Ohio licensed educators in Mahoning County with families seeking academic assistance over the summer. UWYMV does not decide the rates charged, meeting time, or meeting location of where tutoring sessions will be held. Payment, meeting times, and meeting sites must be agreed upon between the parent/guardian and the licensed educator prior to the first tutoring session. Many school districts do not allow teachers to tutor students within their own district. It is the responsibility of both the licensed educator and the parent/guardian to clarify this information with one another.

Tutors have been provided a notice with the information above, along with a suggested contract/agreement form to utilize when discussing payment, meeting time, and location. Educators may use their own flyer/form/document as they wish but may not use United Way logos on personal documents.
